Everything is ready / Todo esta listo

Tomorrow the 12th FINA World Swimming Championship begins and during 2 weeks we all (hope so) will be following every single competition and detail. I would like to be there in Melbourne... but I am not, anyway, thanks INTERNET we will know everything (almost at once) and I will try to keep the blog updated with pictures and results.

Manana comienza el 12vo Campeonato Mundial de Natacion FINA y durante 2 semanas vamos a estar (eso espero) siguiendo cada una de las competencias y todos los detalles de los acontecimientos. Me gustaria estar alla en Melbourne... pero no estoy, de todos modos, gracias a INTERNET nos vamos a enterar de todo (casi que de inmediato) y voy a tratar de mantener el blog siempre actualizado con fotos y resultados.

Virginie Dedieu returns / regresa

...or at least this is what I have read at the official web-site of the World Swimming Championship and to be honest, I am sure that Virginie's return to the pool, after one-year-break, will be one of the highlights of the solo competition since she helds the World Champion title (Barcelona 2003 and Montreal 2005). There have been several swimmers that returned to the water after a while away but nobody can predict whether they will retake the place the used to have or not. To see her back will be very interesting and I think that expectations are among swimmers, among the press and (of course) among the Judges also. This Solo Final will be a real challenge, no doubt about it, a swimmer with a background like hers, trying to grab a 3rd World Champion title... will she make it??? stay tunned :) we will see within a few days.

NOTE: I found a video of an event in France where Virginie swam a Technical Solo (with actual required elements), although the quality of the video isn't great... you can see her here (from 04'35")

...o al menos eso es lo que yo lei en la pagina oficial del Campeonato Mundial de Natacion y para ser honesto, estoy seguro que el regreso de Virginie a la piscina, luego de un ano de retiro, sera uno de los puntos mas interesante de la competencia porque ella mantiene el titulo de Campeona del Mundo (Barcelona 2003 y Montreal 2005). Ha habido muchas nadadoras que se retiran temporalmente y regresan al agua despues de un tiempo, pero nadie puede predecir si van a mantener el lugar que tenian antes. Ver a Virginie de regreso va a ser muy interesante y estoy seguro que hay expectativas entre todas las nadadoras, entre los representantes de la prensa y (por supuesto) entre los Jueces tambien. La competencia de solos sera un verdadero reto, sin duda alguna, una nadadora con una experiencia como la de ella, tratando de obtener su tercer titulo consecutivo de Campeona del mundo... lo lograra??? solo hay que estar pendientes :) lo sabremos dentro de unos dias.

NOTA: Encontre un video de un evento en Francia donde Virginie nado un Solo Tecnico (con los elementos requeridos actuales), aunque la calidad del video no es excelente... pueden revisarlo aqui (desde 04 min 35 seg)

Synchronettes

I have found in youtube this video, which is nothing but an animation of a short routine with 8 swimmers... probably not the best routine ever but what I find nice is the whole montage and the virtual thing :) maybe we will begin planning the routines with the help of computers? or maybe we will evaluate the routines this way somehow before they are swam? who knows, it is surely a good tool but it will be up to us how to use it.

Encontre en youtube este video, que no es mas que una animacion por computadora de una rutina corta con 8 nadadoras... probablemente no es la mejor rutina que nos podamos imaginar pero lo que encuentro interesante es en montaje y la cuestion virtual que estan presentando :) tal vez vamos a comenzar a hacer las rutinas con la ayuda de computadoras? o tal vez vamos a evaluar las rutinas de esta forma antes de que sean nadadas? quien sabe, de lo que estoy seguro es que esta es una herramienta muy buena y dependera de nosotros el provecho que le podamos dar.

Cirque du Soleil

I am signed on Cirque du Soleil's e-mailing service and updates, I really like the Cirque and the fantasy world they create althought I have never seen a single show on stage (only on video). I have always been trying to get to any of their shows (the ones that go around Europe, for instances) but I never seem to match any of my trips with their seasons. Anyway, I got an updated that Cirque du Soleil has began with their castings again and among the profile of athletes they are looking for, there are places for synchronized swimmers :) Synchronized Swimming doesn't give you any money itself and for this reason, some people might find that it could be a threat for the sport when "money" is the reward instead a medal but I find it interesting for swimmers that finish a sporting career and can keep swimming as a career on the stage, probably a more difficult job than many others, that is rewarded by the applauses and public's ovation (of course, and money... but this is a job though).

Yo estoy registrado en el servicio de mensajes del Cirque du Soleil, realmente me gusta mucho el Circo y el mundo de fantasia que crean aunque nunca he visto ninguno de sus shows en vivo (solo en video). Siempre he tratado de asistir a alguno de sus shows (los que hacen tours por Europa, por ejemplo) pero parece que nunca logro cuadrar mis viajes con sus temporadas. La informacion que recibi ahora del Cirque du Soleil es que han comenzado de nuevo con los castings y entre el perfil de atletas que estan buscando, estan buscando por atletas en Nado Sincronizado :) Como deporte, el Nado Sincronizado no te da dinero alguno y por esta razon, algunas personas pueden pensar que el Circo representa una amenaza para el deporte cuando el "dinero" es la recompensa en vez de una medalla pero yo lo encuentro muy interesante como una opcion para atletas que terminan una carrera deportiva y pueden seguir nadando haciendo una carrera en un escenario, lo que probablemente es un trabajo mucho mas dificil que muchos otros, un trabajo que es recompensado con aplausos y la ovacion del publico (y dinero, por supuesto... porque despues de todo tambien es un trabajo).

The SouthAmerican Junior Swimming Championship Venezuela 2007 was held last week in Caracas, 700 swimmers from 13 countries took part on the event. Swimming, Diving, Open Water Swimming, Water Polo and Synchronized Swimming were the events that belong to the agenda. Synchronized Swimming competitions were held in 2 age groups: 13-14-15 and 16-17-18 age groups.

El Campeonato Suramericano de Deportes Acuaticos Venezuela 2007 se realizo la semana pasada en Caracas, 700 nadadores de 13 paises tomaron parte en el evento. Natacion, Clavados, Aguas Abiertas, Polo Acuatico y Nado Sincronizado fueron los eventos que formaron parte de la agenda del encuentro. Las competencias de Nado Sincronizado se dividieron en 2 categorias de edades: 13-14-15 (Juvenil A) y 16-17-18 (Juvenil B).

Melbourne 2007

Within 10 days the 12th FINA World Swimming Championship will begin :) Melbourne (Australia) will be the host of this year's Championship and I think that it is all good news for the people that follow aquatic sports since it is a chance we have to see a lot of new things on the water, world records broken, new countries taken part on the action and having the Olympic Games next year, for sure most of athletes are trying to use this event as a step during the preparation toward the Olympic challenge. I have only been to the FINA World Swimming Championship in Barcelona 4 years ago, I was judging in the shadow panel (practicing) and that was a very positive experience for me, as it can be for many people. I am very curious about the results and I am sure a lot of questions are going around heads; Synchronized Swimming is judged right in the moment, no pre-judging nor bias should be seen, every competition is (indeed) a new landscape plenty of oportunities for all the participants. Solo, duets, teams and combos will be swam... but who will win??? we can only wait. I am wondering how many routines will be new, how many routines will be the same as previous year(s) but improved (or maybe not), there are always thousand of questions and expectatives when such event is getting closed and I hope to be able to share all this with you :)

Dentro de 10 dias comenzara el 12vo Campeonato Mundial de Natacion FINA :) Melbourne (Australia) sera la sede del Campeonato de este ano y yo pienso que todo esto son buenas nuevas para la gente que sigue los deportes acuaticos porque es la oportunidad que tenemos de ver una cantidad de cosas nuevas en el agua, nuevos records mundiales, nuevos paises debutantes y teniendo los Juegos Olimpicos el proximo ano, estoy seguro que muchos atletas aprovecharan este evento como parte de su preparacion hacia el reto Olimpico. Yo solo he estado en el Campeonato Mundial FINA en Barcelona hace 4 anos, yo estuve jueceando en el panel de sombra (en practica) y fue una experiencia muy positiva para mi, asi como puede serlo para mucha gente. Quisiera saber desde ya los resultados y esto yseguro que muchas preguntas de este tipo estan paseandose por las cabezas de mucha gente; el Nado Sincronizado se juzga en el momento, no debe haber pre-jueceo ni parcializacion, cada competencia es (de hecho) una oportunidad para todos los participantes. Solos, duetos, equipos y combos seran nadados... pero quien ganara??? solo podemos esperar. Quisiera saber cuantas rutinas seran nuevas, cuantas rutinas seran las mismas que el(los) ano(s) pasado(s), mejoradas (o tal vez no), siempre hay miles de preguntas y expectativas cuando un evento de este tipo se acerca y espero porder compartir todo esto con todos Ustedes :)
